IntroductionAt First United Methodist Church (FUMC) children are a high priority. We offer a variety of programs including: New Adventure Bible Class for 3rd graders, WACCI Wednesdays, Kids For Christ (KFC) for 5th and 6th graders, Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. In addition, we have a part-time pre-school, the Learning Enrichment Program (LEP) and a full-time pre-school Noah’s Ark. We offer school age child care programs on site at N.B. Cook, Myrtle Grove and Ferry Pass schools. There is also school age child care offered daily at the church. Our programs are open not only to church members but to the community as well. Power ExpressChildren's Sunday School meets Sundays: 9:45 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. for Kindergarten – 5th grade. In order to remain faithful to the vows made by the congregation at every baptism, First United Methodist Church provides a meaningful Christian Education experience for every age. We want our children to develop a lifelong relationship with the Lord and his church. We are proud to use the Workshop Rotation Model. Themes are presented in 6 week units. This model allows children to experience the Word of God in a different workshop each week using the multiple intelligence approach. Themes are presented in 6 week units starting with an assembly week.
Children's WorshipFUMC believes that all of God’s children are welcome in worship (even the squirmy ones). We offer worship bags (located in bins near the sacristy) that can be filled with items designed to help keep your children engaged in worship. These bins are designed with Kindergartners and 1st graders in mind, but any age child is welcome to use them. NurseryThe purpose of the nursery of First United Methodist Church Pensacola, FL is to introduce the infant to an awareness of an accepting and loving God; to offer the child a safe, secure learning environment; and to think of church as my church -- the happy place; and to show the child that he/she is received into this family with understanding, love and acceptance. Sunday morning nurseries are available for the worship services during Sunday School as well as other church activities. We have 3 separate nurseries including: infants, toddlers and 3 and 4 year olds.” All of our nurseries are staffed with both paid employees and volunteers. We want you and your children to feel good coming to the nursery. To that end, some of our goals are: a cheerful atmosphere, clean, safe and inviting rooms, and a staff that models Christian love and acceptance.. Key to a relaxing worship experience for the parents, our nursery staff utilizes the Silent Pager Program. If you are needed back in the nursery, the staff will activate your pager immediately. The pagers are also a wonderful security measure -- children are returned to the parent when their assigned pager is turned in. New Adventure Bible ClassThe New Adventure Bible class is specially designed for Third Graders. All third graders receive Bibles in January of each year and the New Adventure Group begins to meet on the following Sunday. This class helps children learn to use their Bibles through a variety of hands on approaches. Music, games and art are just a few of the ways we make this class a blast!! Look for dates and times in the FUMC newsletter, The Methodist Witness. (also on the Calendar page of this web site) Our Behavior Covenant
